Photo 101: Learn Photography Basics

Do you have a fancy camera that you bought with good intentions of using but you have no idea what all of those buttons do?  So you just use your iPhone camera instead??  Let me help!  I have a background in art education and LOVE teaching people how to take better photos… especially photos of their friends and family.

Who.  You!  If you get overwhelmed by the buttons on your camera but want to learn how to use your DSLR camera to take better photos then you’re invited!  Space is limited.

What.   I’ll focus on teaching you about finding light and some of the important settings on your DSLR camera!  You’ll learn the basics of photography – exposure, shutter speed, aperture and ISO.  People who have taken this course with me can shoot in manual mode by the end.  I’ll have snacks and drinks for you to enjoy as you learn.  Plus, everyone who attends will be entered to win a FREE mini shoot with me!  You’ll also receive resources that I’ve created to refer to as you practice.

When.  This year you can choose from two time slots:
Thursday, January 31 at 7:00-8:30pm (wine and snacks included)
Saturday, February 2nd at 9:30-11:00am (mimosas and brunch snacks included)

Where.  My friend’s home in North Charleston.  I’ll email the address to those that sign up!

Why.  You won’t regret gaining the skills to take amazing photos of your friends and family to enjoy!  It makes taking photos a lot more fun when you know what you’re doing.  I’ll have a mini session giveaway!  And… did I mention wine and mimosas?

Cost. $25/person.  You’ll see instructions when you register.

Click on one of the buttons below to sign up.  Please bring a friend!  (Just have them register!)

If you can’t make this event but want to learn about photography (or want to go deeper after you attend) I offer one-on-one lessons.  Just email me to get more info and we’ll customize a lesson for you!

Charleston, SC Photo Session: Long Family

Allison won my birthday mini session contest back in April!  She decided wait until the fall so that sweet Randall would be here for the photos!  We had a perfect evening out at Hampton Park, one of my favorite places to shoot.  How beautiful is that baby??Long-1Long-2Long-3Long-4Long-5Long-6Long-7Long-8

Charleston Newborn Session: Bram

Bram was real chill during our session – as long as someone held him.  I’m not so sure how he felt about me.  You’ll notice his furrowed brow he gave me in lots of the photos!  🙂 So. Dang. Cute.

Charleston, SC Photo Session: Toscano Family

I first met the Toscano family in 2015 and have been photographing them each fall since!  I’ve loved watching the interactions between this brother-sister duo, Julian and Marley.  They always crack each other up!  Which I’m thankful for because it results in some awesome pics!

October Mini Session Highlights!

Here are some photos from my second round of mini sessions this fall!  We met at Smythe Park on Daniel Island.  This spot is a little hidden gem!  Beautiful light in the morning and not as busy as some of the downtown locations.  I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a good spot for family photos!  (Just watch out for the gators) 🙂

Mini sessions are sold out for this fall but email me at if you’d like to schedule a maternity, newborn or family session!

If you want to be the first to know when my spring minis are please feel free to join my email list!  I promise I won’t spam you 🙂  I’ll send about 3-4 emails per year.

Charleston, SC Photo Session: Rains and Reagan Families

Big smiles and giggles at the College of Charleston campus from these two families!  I love capturing the photo of alllll of the kiddos each year.  There was only one who needed some convincing this year….
